Dr Oz: Best Vitamins for Women
Some of the important supplements that have to be taken into consideration are Carnosine, nueronutrients, enzymes, amino acids, antioxidants, and some specialized substances.
Osteoporosis affects a great proportion of elderly women, and this state typically starts in your early 30’s. Daily intake of supplements that provide your body with enough calcium and magnesium in addition to other nutrients that support in absorbing should be considered for everyone above 40.
Vitamin D:
Are you working in a office? Can you feel how the lack of sunlight makes you feel worse? You are not alone. Almost 50% of all Americans lack Vitamin D. Sunlight and cod liver oil will provide you with the essential vitamin D. You feel a lot better with it! Either add cod liver oil to your daily breakfast (breakfast is very important!) or sit in the sun for about 15 minutes per day.
Calcium:
Our teeth rely on it. Constipation can be caused by a lack of calcium. Dr.Oz says that you should be taking Calcium and Magnesium supplements twice per day: 600 mg calcium and 200 mg magnesium.
DHA Omega-3:
A very essential vitamin that can be found in fish oil, according to Dr.Oz.
Omega-3 fatty acids are types of polyunsaturated fat and are considered good fats. There are three types of omega-3 fatty acids: docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), from fish and fish oil and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), from plants and plant oil.
Omega-3 fatty acids protect against hardening of the arteries by promoting the formation of good prostaglandins, thinning the blood and reducing the stickiness of blood cells. Recent evidence also suggests that omega-3 fatty acids are crucial for brain function and may be beneficial for the prevention and treatment of certain mental disorders, particularly depression. Proper consumption of these fatty acids can also cut your risk of Alzheimer's disease by 60 percent, though study results aren’t conclusive.
To get the benefits of this great fat, Dr. Oz says it’s generally better to get any nutrient from food. The following foods are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids:
- Fatty fish, including: Salmon, Mackerel, Tuna, Herring, Halibut
- Plant foods, such as: Ground flaxseed, Flaxseed oil, Canola oil, Soybean oil, Walnuts, Leafy greens, Tofu, Eggs
If you choose to take capsules, Dr. Oz says a dose of DHA omega-3 is similar to fish oil but comes in a small pill form. "It comes from a source that we know is pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s make a lot of sense," he says.
Dr. Oz has recommended a few different dosages over the years.Previously, Dr. Oz recommended taking 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids, containing 180 mg EPA/120 mg DHA, 3 times daily. In his most recent anti-aging discussion with Oprah, he recommended taking 600 milligrams a day
Baby Aspirin:
If you’re over the age of 40, Dr. Oz recommends adding two baby aspirins to your daily regime. “We know it’s very effective in reducing heart disease, very effective in reducing cancer. “Oprah.com”
Multivitamin:
Multi-vitamin pills should be split into two parts and then taken in the morning and the evening.
